Maria Taferl is an amazing place, high above Danube with fantastic views down to the valley and the river. You can see the church and the grounds around it, have a quiet walks in nature on the slopes.
It is very steep to get there by bike from Marbach, but if you stay the night at Maria Taferl, hotel will pick you up (bike as well) for a free (short) transfer. Following day if you continue towards Vienna, you cycle downhill and it is not that steep. Night at Maria Taferl is very worth while.

Maria Taferl, picturesquely situated on a hill high above the Danube, is one of Austria's most important pilgrimage sites – the second most important in the country after Mariazell. The baroque Basilica of Our Lady of Sorrows, whose construction began in the 17th century, attracts thousands of visitors every year. The panoramic view from the forecourt across the Danube Valley to the Alps is particularly impressive. The town combines religious significance, magnificent architecture, and impressive scenery in a unique way.
