Altensturmberg is a small village of Wipperfürth on an approximately 360 m high mountain range between Wipper and Gaultal. Altensturmberg belonged to the municipality of Klüppelberg from 1880 to 1975 and was already mentioned in 1625 as "Storrenberg" in a tithing list of the parish church of St. Nikolaus Wipperfürth. In the description of the hunting boundaries between the citizens of Wipperfürth and the baron von Nagel, the so-called Storrenberger meadow pond was mentioned in 1662. Before 1860 the place always belonged to the memorial citizenship of Wipperfürth, Poshofer Rotte.
