The Lutheran church was built in 1615 on the site of the older monastery "Witte Heren" (named after the monks' white habit), which was demolished after the Reformation in the 16th century. A new façade was added in the second half of the 19th century. The French mechanical clock in the tower dates from 1892. The organ was built by Julius Strobel in 1882, replacing a Gideon Bätz organ from 1790.
The church was originally a secret church, hidden from view, but today it is easily visible from the street.
