The Augsburg city forest is one of the most species-rich nature reserves in Bavaria and is home to over 3,000 animal and plant species. Mammals:• Deer: Common and characterize the image of the forest.• Wild boars: Particularly active in the dense forest areas.• Beavers: Help shape the water landscape through their building activities.• Przewalski's horses: As part of a grazing project, they contribute to landscape maintenance. Birds:• Kingfishers: Can be seen in the clear streams of the city forest.• Woodpeckers: Various species use the old tree stands.• Birds of prey: Such as buzzards and hawks hunt in the open areas.Amphibians and reptiles:• Frogs and toads: Use the wetlands for reproduction.• Grass snakes: Prefer to be close to water.Insects:• Butterflies: Rare species find a habitat in the sparse pine forests.• Beetles: A high level of biodiversity, including endangered species.The combination of forests, meadows, heaths and waters creates diverse habitats that enable this biodiversity. Visitors are asked not to leave the paths and to respect nature in order to protect this valuable habitat.
