Lock 19 of the Zuid-Willemsvaart, built in 1826, with drawbridge. The lock gates and control system date from 1929. The lock is surrounded by a towpath on both sides. Four doors of the locks in the Zuid-Willemsvaart need to be completely replaced. This concerns the Bosscherweg and the Bassin in Maastricht. They are in too bad a condition to be renovated, as was intended.This is a setback for Maastricht: the costs are now more than 1.5 million euros higher than the 400,000 euros that was reserved for maintenance. The replacement will be carried out by Mourik Infra: in the winter of 2023/2024, lock 20 at the Bassin will be next, a year later lock 19 at the Bosscherweg.
