Masjid Sultan, as she is also known, is a well-known mosque in Singapore and one of the country's most impressive religious buildings.

The present mosque was built in 1928 by the same architect who also built the Victoria Memorial Hall.
Entering the house of prayer is only possible in "decent" clothing, shorts or similar are not accepted. Also photographing or filming is not permitted and as a non-Muslim only entering the vestibule without shoes is allowed.

The Sultan Mosque has stayed essentially unchanged since it was built, with only repairs carried out to the main hall in 1968 and an annex added in 1993. It was gazetted as a national monument on 8 March 1975.
