Islamic Origins: Built in the early 12th century by the Muslims of the Emirate of Denia, it served a defensive and strategic purpose over the Marina Baixa region.
Decline: Its abandonment began in the 18th century. Some of its materials were reused to build the chapel and cemetery that now occupy the site.
