The Paulibrunnen is a striking monument. It was donated in 1889 by Erlangen citizen Friedrich Salomon Pauli. The fountain depicts figures in ancient robes, representing "Erlangia" with symbols of local industry and "Alma Mater" with signs of science. Relief portraits of prominent representatives of the University of Erlangen also adorn the fountain. It is a popular meeting point and a landmark of the city.

This fountain in the middle of the Erlangen market and funded by the Pauli Foundation was built in 1889. The style of the fountain can be attributed to the late Renaissance. The figures that are represented are Erlangia for local industry and the Alma Mater for local science. Furthermore, Christian Ernst and Alexander can be found as Margraves as well as Prince Regent Luitpold of Bavaria.
