The Relais Saint-Jacques is a historic building that reflects the typical 16th and 17th-century architecture along the Meuse River. The symmetry of the beautiful facade is surprisingly interrupted by the position of the front door. Above the lintel is the year 1661 with the inscription "IHS," derived from the Greek letters ΙΗΣ, the initials of "Jesus."

The Saint-Jacques Relais is an example of the regional characteristics that developed along the Meuse in the 16th and 17th centuries. The tall and imposing building stands perpendicular to the road. This type of architecture faithfully reproduces the traditional half-timbered structure in stone on a brick base, consisting of a set of beams and a clay filling. Supports, crossbeams and lintels extended in bands, as well as the transom windows in the facade, create simplified geometric shapes reminiscent of the wooden frame. The building has a rectangular plan and rests on a foundation of sandstone rubble, which anchors it firmly in the ground. This sandstone base, which isolates the building from wet ground, is also an architectural element originating from old half-timbered buildings.
