Tips

The Hangende Stein is located directly on the Albtrauf and offers a very nice view of the Schamental and Jungingen. The long-distance trail Albsteig leads directly past this geological feature. The Alb is crumbling here in slow motion and eventually the hanging stone will break off.

In general, the eaves between the oven rock and the hanging stone is highly recommended. The rocky sea below conveys an untouched, primeval landscape. Accompanied by the Hohenzollerngraben, which is a geological peculiarity of the rock, as well as a few meters away, for the explorers among the hikers, the little-known rock gate.
There is something to see here. A top recommendation for hikers.

The Hangenden Stein is part of the Alb Trauf near Albstadt (district of Onstmettingen), in 1879 there was a landslide here as in Mössingen

The hanging stone is a piece of rock that hangs from the Albstädter eaves edge. From here you have a wonderful panorama. Treat yourself to a break at this natural monument and let your gaze wander into the distance. Who knows how long the stone will hang like this.

It's best not to come here on weekends and it can be quite busy

Here the eaves edge can be experienced particularly close. You may feel safe on the overhang, even if it drops a hundred meters and more steeply all around. But the cracks in the rock also show up on the rock outcrop ...
A wildly romantic place with a wonderful panorama!
