The reception building was designed by Ernst Schwartz (1855-1934). It leads to the Heerstrasse bridge and Boyenallee. The station was opened on November 1, 1909, initially for steam-powered suburban traffic. In August 1928, it was connected to the electrically operated S-Bahn network. After it was closed in 1980, the station building and the tracks were renovated over the 1990s. The station was reopened in January 1998.
