The days of horses and carriages are long gone, and a new use of these imposing buildings became necessary. Here, too, we have resorted to an old Emmeram monastery tradition. Since time immemorial, the monks have brewed their own beer nearby, where the new brewery at the castle now brews various types of beer itself. The old carriage hall has been transformed into a brewery and a cozy inn. In addition, the castle park has become a beer garden and a popular destination. I cordially invite you to do so!

Hiking

The New Marstall on Waffnergasse is actually a strict, princely "service building". Erected between 1907 and 1911, it housed workshops, carriages and, above all, up to 100 riding and carriage horses. The then princely architect Max Schultze adapted the building along the old city wall perfectly to the medieval situation with the Emmeram gate system. The use of the building, as it has been proven since the 14th century - i.e. during the time of the monastery of Sankt Emmeram - remained the same.
