This work is an engraving showing the confrontation between a Minotaur (a mythological creature with a human body and a bull's face) and a young woman holding a candle and flowers. The scene is filled with symbolism and is often interpreted as a reflection of Picasso's personal turmoil at that time, as well as a harbinger of the Spanish Civil War.
