The Ludendorff Bridge is known to many from the US war movie "The Bridge of Remagen". The railway bridge was completed at the end of the First World War.
The damaged by allied bomber hits and a failed blast by the German Wehrmacht bridge collapsed on March 17, 1945.
The bridge towers on the Remagen side will be used as a peace museum. On the Erpeler side cultural events take place in the tunnel.
