The former Fürstenfeld monastery was one of the Wittelsbach family's former house monasteries. The monastery church of St. Maria is considered a major work of the southern German late baroque. Numerous first-class artists were involved in the decoration. The height and width of the church interior are impressive, and appear very uniform despite the long period of construction and furnishings.
