Be sure to check in advance the dates in the event forum, otherwise the area (for example flower show) is closed.

The monastery church is beautiful. The self-made profiteroles in the Klosterstüberl are a dream and if you ask, you can also take them with you for a picnic in the courtyard of the monastery!

Otherwise a tip for the Pokempn hunters: 3 arenas and more than 10 stops in the smallest of spaces ;-)

In 1263, Cistercians from Aldersbach in Lower Bavaria founded the convent on the "Field of the Prince", which was consecrated to the duke as atonement for his act by Pope Alexander IV. Between 1270 and 1290, the first brick-built monastic complex was built, which was repeatedly rebuilt, expanded and renovated in the following centuries. The Duke found after his death in 1294 in the abbey church his last rest, the exact location of his grave is no longer known today. The connection of Ludwig's son, later Emperor Ludwig of Bavaria, to the Father's Atonement was also very close; he called it "monumentum paternae poenitentiae": a monument to paternal penitence. On October 11, 1347, he died near the monastery below the village of Puch on the bear hunt. His heart should be buried in Fürstenfeld ......Continue reading :-)

In the area of the monastery is usually something going on (garden and art exhibitions, open-air cinema). There are also several options for a leisurely rest (Klosterstüberl, Fürstenfelder). The visit of the monastery church is of course a "must".
