Schloss Friedrichstein is a beautiful baroque castle in the town of Bad Wildungen, Germany. Originally built in 1200 by Count Friedrich of Thuringia as a Gothic fortress, it was later converted into a baroque castle by Count Josias II of Waldeck in the 17th century. The castle has served various purposes over the centuries, including as a youth hostel, hotel, and now a museum and restaurant.
The castle is known for its impressive architecture, including the monumental domed structure and the baroque portal by Rudolf Kippenhahn. Inside, you will find exhibitions on Hessian military history and a collection of turcica (artifacts from the Ottoman Empire).
