The panoramic cycle path Balkantrasse was opened on the section from Burscheid via Wermelskirchen to Remscheid on 22 April 2012, which was sponsored by Förderverein Balkantrasse Leverkusen e. V. built connection to Opladen followed on 29 May 2014.
