The monastery church of the Dominican monastery of St. Ursula was built in 1516 on the foundations of an older chapel. After being destroyed in the Second World War, it was rebuilt in a simplified form in 1947.
The Dominican monastery of St. Ursula was given to the Beguines by the cleric Berthold Rehm in 1335. In 1431, the Beguines submitted to the spiritual leadership of the neighboring Dominican monastery of St. Magdalena. The monastery was consecrated to Saint Ursula in 1432.

The St. Ursula monastery in Augsburg is a Dominican monastery rich in tradition with a history that goes back to 1335. It was founded by Beguines who later joined the Dominican Order.

        History:
        • Founding: In 1335, the cleric Berthold Rehm donated a house to the Beguines in Augsburg's Lechviertel. In 1431, the sisters submitted themselves as regular tertiaries to the spiritual leadership of the neighboring Dominican monastery of St. Magdalena. The monastery was consecrated to St. Ursula in 1432.
        • Secularization and re-establishment: In the course of secularization, the monastery was dissolved in 1803. It was re-established in 1828 and novices were allowed to be admitted again.

        St. Ursula monastery church:
The current monastery church was built in 1516 and expanded in 1720. It is an important example of baroque sacred architecture in Augsburg.

        Activities and facilities:
        • Host bakery: The monastery operates a host bakery in which hosts are made from pure wheat flour and water.
        • Open all-day school: For over 50 years, the monastery has offered an open all-day school for students at the St. Ursula girls' secondary school.

        St. Ursula secondary school:
The St. Ursula secondary school is a state-recognized secondary school run by the school system of the Diocese of Augsburg. Since September 2023, both girls and boys have been taught.

The St. Ursula monastery and the associated secondary school have shaped the spiritual and educational life in Augsburg for centuries.
