The climb from Rothbury is nearly 300m elevation gain, but it's really worth it when you see the views here on a clear day. For the very, very best experience, come up in Simonside when the heather is in full bloom in late summer and early autumn, great swathes of purple carpet. Keep an eye out for wild goats and red grouse too!

I liked the variation of terrain in this trail, from rugged loose small boulder rock, grass, asphalt, dirt etc. Seeing places where people live in remote, tucked away locations. Panoramic views from viewing points. There are a couple of points on the Komoot navigation that couldn't be seen and slight alternative routes had to be followed but quickly back onto the actual trail.
Was good to meet other Komoot users on EMTB on the actual route

It's a bit of a climb to get here and it's also pretty exposed, but the view (and the ride down) is worth it.
