    1. A beautiful Stations of the Cross have been located at Marienplatz since 2017. The sculptor Joseph Krautwald*) has depicted events from the last days of Jesus in relief form on 14 individual bronze panels. They were bequeathed to the village community of Mussum e.V., which in turn made matching stands and set up the Stations of the Cross.
The path leads from the church of Maria Trösterin (stations 1+2), continuing on the narrow footpath between the houses (no. 19 + 21) towards the cemetery. The last stations 13+14 are in front of the underpass. The total length of the path is only 260 meters. There are several benches along the side of the path that invite you to linger and meditate.

    2. The bronze relief of the sower is also by the sculptor Joseph Krautwald. It was set up behind the bakery (at the local history museum) in 2021 and the parable of the sower can also be found on a sign at the bakery.

    3. An altar cross made of travertine with the inscription "Come all to me" stands on the way to the cemetery and is also by the sculptor Joseph Krautwald. It was erected facing the MT church in 2021 (between Stations of the Cross 4 and 5).

Both the sower and the altar cross come from St. Mary's Church in Papenburg-Obenende, which was deconsecrated in 2020. The sower once adorned the travertine ambo and the built-in safe was removed from the former tabernacle (also called the altar cross).

*)Joseph Krautwald (*7.3.1914 in Borkendorf/ Silesia, +13.1.2003 in Rheine) is a well-known Polish sculptor. After a short apprenticeship as a sculptor, Krautwald attended the Bad Warmbrunn wood carving school with Cirillo Dell'Antonio and the sculpture class of Josef Thorak at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. He completed his training in 1939 with Karl Albiker in Dresden. In 1949 he came to Rheine, where he set up his studio in 1951. Sacred art took up the most space in his extraordinarily extensive work. In 1982 he received the Culture Prize of the City of Rheine, in 1986 the Federal Cross of Merit and in 1997 the Order of Merit of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.
