It served as a lookout for the goatherds and as a sandstone quarry for the residents: the Hirtenstein in the heart of Mistelbach is a little-known natural monument, a geological peculiarity. The State Office for the Environment describes the natural monument as valuable and locally significant. However, it is also overgrown. Nevertheless, the walk up the picturesque stone steps to the lookout is worth it.
