Neo-Gothic church built in 1854-1856, replacing a church from 1612-1614.
The oldest mention of a church building in Dentergem, however, dates back to 1206. During the religious disputes in the second half of the 16th century, that church was destroyed.
A funeral chapel for the deceased pastors was added to the current church in 1877 and in 1919 the Gravenkapel, where Rogier de Kerckhove de Denterghem and his wife Cécile de Borchgrave d'Altena are buried. The latter chapel can be found on the south-eastern flank of the church, but is not accessible.
A funeral service was in progress when I passed by, which meant I could not visit the church either.
