Hiking

The fish passage is approximately 200 m long and really works like a normal staircase. The fish ladder consists of 12 ‘steps’ with a height difference of 8 cm each. Fish can swim upstream over these.
In the Warmbeek, a ‘spawning riffle’ was also constructed upstream of the fish ladder. This is a zone with faster flowing water over a gravel stream bed. An ideal spawning ground for rare stream fish such as the chub and the dace.
