The heap itself is a popular destination in the north of Oberhausen, which in addition to walking, cycling and kite flying also has a crossroads and much artistic to offer. The mainly greened, about 100 meters above the adjacent mine site towering heap, but also opens up a wonderful view of the mine Prosper -Haniel and the northwestern Ruhr area. More at

As a starting point for a visit to the Haniel heap, the parking lot offers directly on the colliery ground.

The Halde Haniel in Bottrop is with 159 m height one of the highest heaps of the Ruhr area. It was piled up in the form of two spirals through overburden of the coal mine Prosper-Haniel. In the north, the heap Schöttelheide joins. Wikipedia

There is so much to see on this heap .......
    You can not explain everything.
You have to see that for yourself.

I can only join Radler07. This trail is not recommended because too often the Way of the Cross is crossed. The heap is so big that you do not have to drive down to the very spot where most pedestrians walk
