The King Albert Monument is a seventeen-meter-high sandstone obelisk on the Windberg in Freital. The building, also known as the Windberg Monument due to its location, was erected in 1903/04 in honor of Albert of Saxony (1828–1902) and is a listed building due to its local historical significance.
The monument is located in the Burgk district on the west side of the Windberg plateau at about 351 m above sea level and faces the Döhlen Basin, in which the central districts of Freital are located along the Weißeritz. A memorial stone commemorates the achievements of the miners in the mining area in the Döhlen Basin. It bears the following inscription, which goes back to Hellmuth Heinz:

SEE, WANDERER, INTO THE VALLEY, HOW IT IS,
    FULL OF STRIVING.

IT ARISES FROM THE MINER'S HARDNESS
AND IT LIVES TO THIS DAY.

The obelisk is made of Bannewitz sandstone and is 17 meters high. On the side facing the valley there is a relief of Albert on horseback. The opposite side of the monument bears the year of its construction, a bronze plaque shows the inscription:

ENTER THIS PLACE, O SAXON PEOPLE, REVIOUSLY, IT IS DEDICATED TO THE MANES
    OF A KING,
    WHO COMBINED GERMAN HEROIC SPIRIT
    WITH LOYALTY TO HIS PEOPLE
    AND WAS A
    LEADER SENT BY GOD
