The King Albert Monument on the Windberg was built in 1904 in honor of King Albert of Saxony and expresses the gratitude of the residents of the Plauensche Grund for his military assistance during the 1897 flood. The bronze plaque on the side facing away from the valley was restored true to the original as part of the renovation work in 2008. The monument is a popular excursion destination and offers a wonderful view of the Weisseritz valley and almost the entire city from the viewing platform.
