"The first documented mention of the place was as Tvidorp in an undated document that was issued between 1132 and 1141. The 850th anniversary celebrations took place in 1991, with the inauguration of the anniversary monument on August 24, 1991. Since then, the memorial stone day has been celebrated on the anniversary.
The oldest thing in the town is the Zweidorfer Meer. The Meerweg is a reminder of the historical remnant from the Ice Age.
The place name may be based on the two settlement cores at Rodekamp and Brink.
The western row of farms there can be seen as a planned settlement. The former Braunschweig patrician family of Zweidorf named themselves after the place.
The oldest club is the Junge Gesellschaft Zweidorf, first mentioned in 1842, which is still active today, with interruptions."
