The military railway Tren de los 40 Días or Tren de Negrín had the mission of supplying the Republican troops on the Madrid front from Levante. It took more than a year to build and was only in operation for forty days, in the final stretch of the Spanish Civil War. It was dismantled shortly after the end of the war and is now a popular greenway for cyclists and hikers.
