At 1,455 meters, the Großer Arber is the highest mountain in the Bavarian Forest. From its summit you can see the Alps in good conditions. But of course you have to earn such a view first. Many paths lead to the summit and back down. From the gravel road to the challenging singletrack everything is there. The Arberschutzhaus offers everything for your physical well-being. Also overnight stays are possible.

The two radar towers have been the landmark of the Grosser Arber for over 30 years.

The radar towers on the Grosser Arber have long since become a real landmark of the highest mountain in the Bavarian Forest. In the summer, the highest construction site in the Bavarian Forest is to be set up there: the dome on the main tower is to be renovated.

The Federal Ministry of Defense is investing around 2.2 million euros in this "construction project for national defense" so that in the future the airspace within a 450-kilometer radius from Berlin to Venice can be monitored from the Arber.

Beautiful panoramic view 360 * 👍👌 The Great Arber (Velký Javor in Czech) is 1455.5 m above sea level. NHN [1] the highest mountain in the Bohemian Forest / Bavarian Forest and Lower Bavaria. It is also the highest mountain in Bavaria outside the Alps and, after the Feldberg, the second highest mountain in Germany outside the Alps. In addition, a rock bar west of the summit cross with 1439.6 m height represents the highest point of the Upper Palatinate. Therefore, the mountain in the Lower Bavarian district of Regen and in the Upper Palatinate district of Cham is called the "King of the Bavarian Forest". Its summit region consists of paragneiss.
