The workers here in the quarry have a new source of income. The valley looks like a small museum.

The site is known as Añashuayco Quarry, a volcanic stone quarry located near Arequipa. It is famous for producing sillar, a white, porous volcanic rock (ignimbrite) formed from volcanic ash. Sillar has been used for centuries in the construction of Arequipa's buildings, giving the city its nickname "The White City."

The quarry is still active today but also a tourist attraction where visitors can see impressive rock carvings made of the local stone. The site forms part of the Ruta del Sillar (“Sillar Route”), a popular tour in Arequipa.
