Built by Baltasar Neumann, the predominantly white interior is superbly appointed. In the votive chamber to be visited more than 100 life-size wax figures are to visit, which were donated as a symbolic sacrifice, for example, for the rescue from an emergency due to a vow.

    Grand church of the Baroque.
Note on the edge: The used "marble" was broken in a quarry directly in the castle ruins Neideck.

Balthasar Neumann was called to Gößweinstein to build this beautiful basilica. He was also a very beautiful circuit around Gößweinstein dedicated.

One of the legends surrounding the image of grace is an image migration legend that emphasized the sanctity of the place of grace. When the painting was removed from the village of Hüll bei Betzenstein about 15 km away in the time of the Reformation, it is - according to legend - repeatedly hidden from fanatical iconoclasts. So it came over several stages on winding roads to Gößweinstein. From there, it should have been brought to Bamberg, but the team could not move even with four biased oxen, which was interpreted as a sign that the image of grace in Gößweinstein should be worshiped. What is striking about this legend is that it should emphasize God's chosen place of grace and also how it addresses the relationship between Protestants and Catholics. Both the "no-skill" and the miraculous salvation of the cult object from unbelievers and the wonderful, seemingly impossible arrival of the image at the place of grace are frequent topoi in the origins of pilgrimages.
