The Courtgain district in Saint-Valery-sur-Somme is one of the most picturesque in the city, full of history and charm. In the 18th and 19th centuries, it was the district of the fishermen. They went fishing aboard their "sautellier", these flat-bottomed boats with large quadrangular sails. They fished in particular for the grey shrimp, which is locally called "sauterelle". Renowned for its colorful and narrow houses, often whitewashed, with facades decorated with bright shutters and flowers. If you walk around Saint-Valery-sur-Somme, the Courtgain is a must-see, with its narrow streets and its maritime atmosphere (sea festival in August)
