Le Crotoy (Dutch: Krotooie) is a commune in the French department of Somme (region Hauts-de-France) and has 2439 inhabitants (1999). The place is part of the district of Abbeville and is located on the Somme Bay Railway. Joan of Arc was imprisoned in the castle of Le Crotoy from November 21 to December 20, 1430. There is a statue in front of her on the quay. Jules Verne lived in Le Crotoy from 1865 to 1870 and wrote his work Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea here.
