Gerhagenven

There is a small fen but it is a bit further away. It now also has a name, simply the Gerhagenven. Every fen in Gerhagen and on the other side of the road, in Averbode Bos & Heide is filled by rainwater, snow and so on. There are also ditches everywhere. In other words: no seepage water and sometimes they can be - almost - dry during dry and warm weather. In Gerhagen, Pinnekenswijer is especially worth it (not accessible during breeding season) and the fen in Houterenberg is also beautiful. On the other hand, in Averbode Bos & Heide there are larger ones. Many of the fens that you find in this region have a past that is connected to the abbey.
