It covers an area of 530.28 ha. It includes islands, shallows and sandbanks as well as the flowing waters of the Vistula. In the south, it borders the “Świderskie Islands” reserve.The aim of establishing the reserve was to protect aquatic ecosystems in the middle Vistula riverbed, of a natural or near-natural nature. It is a nesting and feeding place for rare bird species and a refuge for animals associated with the aquatic environment.
