The church is dedicated to the Παναγία Ελευθερώτρια, the Holy Virgin as "Liberator"! Apart from its low entrance, the church has no special features, unlike the nearby chapel at the Chartou cemetery. Together with it, it guards one of the few accesses to the natural fortress of Ano Poula (Ιππολα) on Cavo Grosso, inhabited since antiquity.
