The Gaubahn cycle path runs 26km along the route of the former Gaubahn. Due to its very slight gradient, it is an easy-to-ride connection between the Main Valley cycle path and the Tauber Valley cycle path. The Gaubahn cycle path is asphalted throughout, its route is almost completely free of car traffic and is therefore perfect for families with children.
The Gaubahn operation ended in 1983. The route ran from Weikersheim to Ochsenfurt. The main operation was in November, when the harvested sugar beets were brought to the sugar factory (Südzucker) in Ochsenfurt. The sugar beets are now transported using trucks or large tractors.
