This memorial stone on the outer wall of Alsleben Castle, not far from the Saale Bridge, commemorates the German politician Wilhelm Florin. Florin, who was originally from Cologne, sat in the Reichstag for the KPD from 1924 to 1933. He was subsequently a resistance fighter against National Socialism, initially went into hiding after the Reichstag fire and finally emigrated to the Soviet Union via Paris. He died in Moscow in 1944.
