The Flensborghus has an eventful history. Built from the ruins of the Duburg, it now serves as the headquarters of the institutions of the Danish minority.

The building, which was built in 1724/25 largely from demolition material from the Duburg, was first an orphanage, from 1760 also a prison and workhouse and in 1864 a hospital for wounded soldiers. From 1865 to 1891 it was a barracks for the Prussian army before being converted into the "Nordischer Hof" hotel in 1893. After the vote, the Grænseforeningen (Border Association) bought the hotel in May 1921 and opened the Flensborghus there.

The former orphanage in the Norderstrasse was built in 1723-25 from the stones of the demolished Duburg. On the facade, the mirror monogram of King Frederick IV and the old Flensburg coat of arms are attached. The house served as a barracks for many years and is now used by the Danish minority in Schleswig-Holstein.

The historic Flensborghus was built in 1725 with bricks from the demolished Duburg Castle. It has since been used as an apartment, orphanage, penitentiary, barracks and hotel/restaurant. Since 1920 it has been the central cultural and administrative center for the Danish minority.
