Muncaster is a beautifully preserved castle that has remained in the same family, The Penningtons for nine centuries.

The castle has plenty of history and it is thought Henry VI fled to the castle after the Battle of Towton in 1461 where Sir John Pennington put him up for the night.

The castle and gardens can be visited between 10.30-1700. Tickets cost approximately £15 per adult.

Beautifully preserved, Muncaster Castle is a stunning testament to British history. The same family, the Penningtons, have lived in the castle for nine centuries.

It is thought that Henry VI fled to the castle after the Battle of Towton in 1461 and was put up by Sir John Pennington. Apparently, Sir John offered him a glass drinking bowl, which remains at the castle and is known as 'The Luck of Muncaster.'
