The transport and gravel trading company 'Radkovski' mined sand and gravel here in the early 1970s. The remaining pits filled with groundwater and after the mining operations ended (late 70s), the lakes were used as swimming lakes. Shortly thereafter, fish were introduced, the area was privatized and only opened to fishermen with appropriate permits.
