The Nordgeorgsfehn Canal, finally completed in 1916, branches off the Ems-Jade Canal at kilometer 42,400 in Marcardsmoor and connects it to the Leda-Jümme area. A total of eight locks have to be passed over a distance of 31.8 kilometers. However, the gates of the NGFK VIII lock at Marcardsmoor are always open.
