The exact name of the building is Palacio del Marqués de Dos Aguas or Palace of the Marquis of the Two Waters.

In the 15th century (originally built in the Gothic style), the building belonged to the Rabassa de Perellós family, who bore the title of "Marqueses de Dos Aguas". It was extensively renovated in the mid-18th century during the Baroque period and received its current façade. The striking alabaster portal depicts two enormous streams of water cascading around a statue of the Virgin Mary and Child - a symbol of abundance and fertility bestowed by water (Dos Aguas).

In 1949 it was acquired by the Ministry of Education and houses the National Museum of Ceramics and Decorative Arts "González Martí".

The Palacio del Marqués de Dos Aguas is a magnificent palace with an impressive Rococo façade and luxurious interiors. Originally Gothic, it was remodeled in the Baroque-Rococo style in the 18th century. The ornate alabaster portal by Ignacio Vergara is particularly well-known. Today the palace houses the National Ceramics Museum, which displays an important collection of Spanish and international ceramics. A must-see for architecture and art lovers in Valencia!
