The Ruhr shapes the cityscape of Schwerte and offers a wide range of opportunities for cyclists and nature lovers. A special highlight is the Ruhr Valley Cycle Path, which stretches over 240 kilometers from the source in the Sauerland to the mouth of the Rhine near Duisburg. After about 125 kilometers you reach Schwerte, with the route leading through the idyllic Ruhr meadows and offering an impressive view of the surrounding nature. In Schwerte itself, a detour to the historic old town with its charming half-timbered houses is worthwhile. The central market square invites you to take a break in one of the numerous cafés or restaurants. Those interested in culture can visit the Ruhr Valley Museum in the Old Town Hall, which offers exciting insights into the history of the city.
