In the summer of 1614, there was a plan for fortification in The Hague, for which the Groningen "glazier" - later city architect - Garwer Pieters drew up a specification.
Although the "declaration" was far too expensive for the Ommelanders, the Stadjers decided on March 25, 1615, to "plant the great fortification on the great form".
