Rotberg Castle was built by the Bishops of Basel in the first half of the 13th century. In 1935, the already badly dilapidated castle was rebuilt and has since housed a youth hostel with a unique character.

Rotberg Castle is a medieval knight's castle located in the municipality of Metzerlen-Mariastein, southwest of Basel, in the canton of Solothurn. It was probably built in the second third of the 13th century. Since an expansion in 1935, it has served as a youth hostel.

Striking building, now a youth hostel. Good starting point for driving "sideways" to the ridge between Blattenpass and Chall.
