The stamp hunters will be satisfied. 😉

The journey here is absolutely worthwhile. Beautiful rock formations and great caves also invite you to explore. The Rothestein Cave is only open from April to September, however.

From September 15, 2024, the stamp station 16 of the hiking treasures of the Wild Homeland will be located on the signpost to the Rothestein Cave.

Attention: The stamp box is located on the signpost at the junction to the cave and not directly at the cave entrance. The Rothestein Cave is located at a height of 340 meters in the southern end of the Ith and is particularly interesting from an archaeological point of view. A narrow crevice in the rock forms the entrance to a first approximately 20-meter-long passage. When the cave was scientifically examined, shards of vessels, bones and bronze tools were found. Descriptions of human sacrifices and cult acts are also considered accurate. To protect the hibernating bats, the cave is closed from October to April!

Tip along the way: Adventurers bring a headlamp and explore the interior of the cave. But even those who prefer to stay outdoors will find an interesting landscape here: the paths along the Holzener Klippen invite you to explore. Climbers can often be seen here.
