Fountain inaugurated in 1999 in the beautifully landscaped church garden of the Sint-Amandus church, dedicated to a local poet, essayist and critic (for Dietsche Warande and Belfort, among others).
Audomarus Carolus Desiderius de Laey (Hooglede 1876-1909) wrote mainly poems and animal fairy tales inspired by La Fontaine in his short life. Two of them, "Van Wreeden Snoek" and "Van Looze Katte" are explicitly referred to in this fountain.
