The Ochsenkopf transmitter is a 191.5-meter-high television tower made of reinforced concrete that has been located on the summit of the Ochsenkopf in the Fichtel Mountains since 1958. Analogue radio (FM), digital radio (DAB) and digital television (DVB-T) are broadcast from the transmitter mast. It also serves as a radio relay node.

Why is the Ochsenkopf actually called the Ochsenkopf? Is there perhaps a stone somewhere that looks like an ox head? No, not that, but there is a monument. You just have to follow the "landmark" sign at the summit and after a few meters you will see the bull's head carved into the rock. It could be a symbol for the Slavic god Radegast, but also a sign of the alchemists or, according to legend, an ox that a farmer lost up here.
