The fortified church of St. Aegidien in Oberlind is an impressive example of medieval architecture and defensive strength. Its fortified character, with its walls and defensive towers, testifies to the region's turbulent history. Romanesque in its core, the church underwent Gothic extensions over the centuries.
Particularly worth seeing are the well-preserved fortifications, which once offered protection to the villagers in uncertain times. Inside, the church contains valuable furnishings reflecting various eras. St. Aegidien is thus not only a place of worship, but also an important historical monument in the southern Thuringia region.

Beautiful old village church. In front of it once stood a linden tree which gave the village its name.
